Rooted in Science, Raised with Heart
The breeder, the background, and the promise behind every Trailside puppy.
Hi, I’m Abigail
Miniature American Shepherds have always been my heart breed — small enough to travel easily, but bold, sturdy, and spirited enough to keep up with whatever life throws at us.
I value a dog who isn’t afraid to get muddy on a trail ride, will happily chase a ball at the park, or sit calmly chewing a hoof trimming while the farrier works. For me, the ideal dog is steady, confident, and part of the family in every season of life.
Raising these dogs isn’t just a hobby for me — it’s a lifetime of passion backed by real professional experience.
A Lifetime of Animals, Behind Every Litter
From the Zoo to the Whelping Box
Long before I raised my first litter of puppies, I was training and caring for some of the most challenging animals on earth — jaguars, foxes, and many more — in a zoo setting. Working with exotic species teaches you to read body language fluently, build trust without force, and shape confident behavior in animals that can’t simply be told what to do.
That same science-based, force-free approach is the backbone of how I raise every Trailside puppy. I’m not guessing — I’m applying years of professional animal-behavior experience to give your dog the very best start.
Years of Hands-On Experience

I’m a behavior nerd and genetics geek, and I firmly believe the dogs we raise today shape families for a lifetime. My focus is on producing healthy, well-rounded, and dependable Miniature American Shepherds — as trustworthy around toddlers and chickens as they are on a mountain trail.
From Farm Chores to Cuddle Piles
My dogs aren’t raised in a barn or a kennel — they’re raised in the middle of real life. From farm chores alongside the horses to cuddle piles with my toddlers, every puppy grows up surrounded by the noise, motion, and love of a busy family home.
That everyday exposure is exactly what builds a steady, confident dog — calm with the kids, game for adventure, and trustworthy in the moments that matter.
