You don’t need a perfect schedule
You don’t need a completely quiet house, a free afternoon, or an hour of training time to help your puppy learn.
I’m a busy mom with young kids, a business, a lot of dogs, and a pretty hectic season of life. Some mornings, I can wake up ten minutes earlier and train my puppy in the dark before everyone else is up.
That’s the kind of training you’ll see here: small, thoughtful moments woven into everyday life. Want to follow along with us?
Hi, I’m Abigail Greenwalt
A positive-reinforcement horse and dog trainer, breeder, and lifelong animal professional. My background includes:
- A degree in Animal Science and Captive Wild Animal Management
- Certified Equine Positive Reinforcement Trainer through the Pet Professional Guild
- Certification through Living and Learning with Animals (LLA), Dr. Susan Friedman’s course
- Former zookeeper, with extensive hands-on experience training a wide range of species using positive reinforcement — including big cats, foxes, small cats, meerkats, red pandas, capybaras, birds, crocodilians, primates, hoofstock, and more
- Former veterinary technician and shelter manager
Working with animals across species has shaped how I approach training: observe the individual, make the next step achievable, and use positive reinforcement to teach skills.
In this course, I’ll bring that experience to the everyday questions puppy people have: What do I do when my puppy bites? How do I build good habits without expecting perfection? What should we practice first?
A lifetime of training across species
A few moments from a career spent observing animals and teaching with positive reinforcement.

Planned topics
The course is being released in weekly modules as I film and train with my puppy. Planned topics include:
Preparing your home and setting up a puppy-safe space
Using food, a marker word, or a clicker in training
Building attention and starting recall
House-training routines and supervised freedom
Making early alone-time practice comfortable
Helping with mouthing, chewing, and other common puppy challenges
Socialization that gives your puppy room to observe, approach, or take a break
Training foundations such as settling, following a lure, and offering behavior
Starting leash skills, handling, and grooming exercises
Practicing exchanges, “drop it,” and “leave it”
Choosing what to focus on based on your puppy — not a rigid checklist
A peek at what a session looks like — the same positive-reinforcement method, whether it’s a jaguar or a puppy.

Learn at home, at your own pace
A virtual course lets you learn around your own schedule and in the place where you’ll actually be training: home. You can watch a lesson, try a small piece of it with your puppy, and return to the material when you need a reminder.
You’ll also see training as it happens with a real puppy. Puppies have their own personalities, energy levels, and learning pace. I’ll show the process, including how I adjust the setup and keep practice manageable.

This course is educational and designed to help you build everyday puppy-training skills. Every puppy is an individual, so you’ll need to adjust the examples to your puppy and your home.
